With us at Splint Invest, you no longer have to be an investment expert or a billionaire to invest in fine art, let alone in Pablo Picasso.

Picasso has not left the top 3 positions in the art market ranking for a decade. Picasso dedicated over 500 works to painters, including himself. Many of the creations are drawn directly on paper or cardboard; and these works have sold on average over the last decade for over 370,000 EUR, with an upward trend and a positive ratio between estimate and selling price. We were able to secure our work for a price of EUR 315,300. Artworks from the last few years (1970-1973) make up 3.5% of all works of art sold at auction since 2014, but contribute almost 7% to total sales.

Few artists have achieved the success of Pablo Picasso or been so vital in building the public’s understanding of what art and artists can be. By the end of his long life, Picasso had become the defining artist of his century. His career spanned nearly 80 years, and although he mainly saw himself as a painter, he had worked in almost every medium, from ceramics to theatrical design. Born in Malaga in 1881, Picasso displayed a precious talent that was nurtured by his father, a university art teacher.

Picasso lived in France until his death in 1973, continuously inventing and responding to the ideas of the wider artistic world and producing some of the defining works of the 20th century; Guernica (1937), Les femmes d’Alger (Version ‘O’) (1955), his portraits of Dora Maar, his minotaur etchings, his salvage sculptures and ceramics all continue to stand as testament to his versatile and prolific talent.

Picasso is listed in the Guinness World Records as the most prolific painter - counting 13,500 paintings and designs, 100,000 prints and engravings, 34,000 book illustrations and 300 sculptures and ceramics.

Until this day, his legacy remains as strong as ever. The most expensive painting sold at auction in 2023 was a Picasso. "Femme à la montre"  sold for a record-breaking $139 million at Sotheby's. It became the second highest price achieved by the artist, the first being Les Femmes d'Alger which sold for $179.3 million at Christie's in 2015.

Our artwork, by Pablo Picasso in 1970, titled The Painter II, is a drawing from Picasso’s later years. It shows a precise, yet free composition drawn with colored crayons and filled with red, yellow, and blue details. A self-portrait, the artist rejuvenated in this work and presents himself with a clear and focused mind dedicated to his art, the irrefutable driving force of his life and career. It is a motif he turned to multiple times in the last years of his life. Slides Learn (84)This artwork will be available from Thursday, the 25th of January, at 18:00 CET.

And when it is finished, it still goes on changing, according to the state of mind of whoever is looking at it. A picture lives a life like a living creature, undergoing the changes imposed on us by our life from day to day. This is natural enough, as the picture lives only through the man who is looking at it.”
